Windows Vista To Windows 7 Upgrade Failure & Steps To Fix it

However it published a step-by-step solution to stop this ongoing restarts that according to Microsoft this proposition is found in all editions of Windows Vista SP1, SP2 & Windows Vista RTM.

And here’s the steps on how to fix repeated system restarts after Windows 7 Upgrade Failure from Microsoft:

  1. Restart your computer or turn it on.
  2. A boot entry menu will appear during system start up, or hit F8 if a boot entry menu doesn’t appear. And then make sure you select Windows Vista as the default setup NOT Windows 7.
  3. Enter the Windows Vista media into the drive and exit the Windows Vista Setup when its launched and if you don’t have it you can download Windows Vista with SP2 ISO here.
  4. Press Start -> All Programs -> Accessories, and then right-click the Command Prompt icon, and then click Run as Administrator to open elevated command prompt with administrator rights.
  5. At a command prompt type X:\boot\Bootsect.exe /NT60 All (Substitute X with virtual drive letter of which Windows Vista installation is located) afterward press Enter.
  6. Now to see the result please restart your computer.
  7. Finish!
