Screensaver was originally and basically designed to specifically protect the monitor of your computer from Phosphor burn-in, it’s simply a computer application just like many other applications installed currently on your computer with the specific characteristic to show only when computer not in use or being idle for a certain period.

Screensaver will show up only if you set it on enabled mode. By default it displays blank screen usually just white or black, or sometimes Windows logo moving constantly around the screen or slide show, animation etc. And will disappear by the time you touch your mouse or click any button on keyboard.
