Microsoft finally launched Microsoft Office 2010 and make it available for public download FOR FREE but it’s still in beta status and intentionally for testing only, thus if you want to be a volunteer to test this new released Office 2010 you can download it in Microsoft Download Center and make a test or evaluation to assist Microsoft to design the best for Office before it is lifted up to be RTM next year.

The build number of this release is 14.0.4536.1000 and the newer one from the one I posted months ago in: Download Microsoft Office 2010 Beta 1

In the previous post: Windows 7 RTM Build 7600 To Be Final Gold RTM I explained that Windows 7 build 7600 will be released and signed off as RTM, after it passed through all the validation checks required for RTM. Now it has met all the requirements and Windows Team Blog has openly proclaimed Windows 7 build 7600 to be final RTM.

This is indeed a good news especially for ones have been waiting for this this moment for months! And Windows 7 and Server team deserve congratulation for reaching this important milestone!

It’s worth to say that this is a great achievement and hard work of people involved in this project, to make Windows 7 a success and meets all the expectation of Windows users, especially to millions of people who tested Windows 7 – from Beta to RC and they who have been so kind to delivered feedback. MSDN and TechNet get Windows 7 RC? Public to wait till May 5

According to a page on the Microsoft Partner Program website, Microsoft is planning to give its partners the Windows 7 Release Candidate via both TechNet and MSDN. The page says the build is available “now,” though as of publishing time, a quick check on TechNet and MSDN shows that it’s not yet available there (only the beta is), nor is it available on Microsoft Connect.

Most likely this is just another slip up, like last month when it was revealed that Microsoft plans to give out the RC in May, so MSDN and TechNet subscribers will not be getting the RC anytime soon. However, today’s information is more specific than the previous leak: May 5 looks like the date for the public release of Windows 7 RC.

Update

It looks like my original guess was correct: MSDN and TechNet subscribers will not be getting access soon. A few faithful readers got this quote from the Microsoft Online Concierge Chat: “Currently the Windows 7 RC has not been avaiable through the TechNet subscription yet, only the Microsoft OEM partners such as Dell, Siemens are taking part in the RC’s this period of test.” This matches what I’ve heard from other sources (also why I originally put a question mark in the title), so despite the grammar mistake, I believe this information is correct.
