PlanetBeing just surprised us with the news that we have been expecting, which is the availability of download Absinthe for Windows. Yes you read it right, after about two days we, as Windows users, only can see the Mac OS spoiled with the jailbreak tool.

But that doesn’t mean the Pod2G dream team didn’t think about us, they did, therefore we finally receive the Absinthe version for Windows because their kindness. Right guys? So chill out now as you will immediately download it. Anyway Absinthe has reached the version 0.2 this also applies for Mac OS version.

The Absinthe v0.2 is bringing the wanted fixes like no reboot after activating VPN and also blank or white icons on springboard found on the previous version.

Easy and quick fix for White icon apps on Springboard or Homescreen, is simply launch Cydia and then select any free apps there, install the package and then run it. Hope that solves the problem. And also try Absinthe white screen.

Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 4 has already been launched brings a one new update which is disposing the external usbmuxd installation, so you don’t need this file again as it is used on the previous versions Redsn0w 0.9.7b3, 0976b2 and 0976b1.

However, still we still unable to use Bluetooth and Skype too.

The iPhone Dev Team names Redsn0w 0.9.7 as the backup plan and to operate this tool it takes the 4.2b3 IPSW for Mac OS. Cydia is providing 4.2b3 SHSH hashes in order to do the untethered jailbreak hack for iOS 4.2.1. iPhone dev team also warns people who use the ultrasn0w carrier to unlock their iPhone to NOT using the Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta for any versions.

Another version of Redsn0w untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak was just released for public, Redsn0w 0.9.7b3, the release of course to fix few bugs found from 0.9.7b2 version which occurred on Youtube, winterboard themes and stability to FaceTime Calls.

The Redsn0w 0.9.7b3 is part of iPhone dev team’s tester program and only available for Mac OS X running on iPad, iPod touch 4G and iPhone 4. Remember this one is still categorized as beta release, and still not completed yet. But considering the hard work shown by the iPhone dev team, we can expect the final version will be soon to be released plus the Window version too.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.7b3 for Mac

iPhone Dev Team finally released the Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad. And if you are using iPhone 3Gs and 3G, you don’t need this tool, as you are already on untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.

The release of Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 is actually the iPhone Dev Team backup plan, after Comex confirmed the delay of its untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak that does not require access to the 4.2b3 IPSW.

Unfortunately the Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 is only available for Mac, there is no date time on when the Windows version will be released, but looks like it will be shortly. And to download Redsn0w, please use the following official iPhone Dev Team link:

FaceTime capability for Mac is available now, now you can call any iPod touch or iPhone using it, but unfortunately for Mac only and it’s still in beta stage.  To get FaceTime is certainly you need to download it and then install it your Computer, afterward login to your iTunes store account or, if you don’t have one, create an account to get you registered. Then use one of emails of your to connect with your FaceTime Mac account.

Save SHSH Blobs (ECID SHSH) of iOS 4 For Windows, Mac. New support from TinyUmbrella has been released to work with iOS 4 on iPhone 3GS also iPod touch 2G and 3G, unfortunately it’s not yet supported for iPad running iOS 4. One more thing this release does not support iPhone 3G since the idevice does not require you to save SHSH blobs, and other older iPod touch MC model!

In case you are going to jailbreak your device in the future, then having SHSH Blobs for iOS 4.0 saved will ease the job in the future jailbreak. Since Apple won’t let you go back down to older firmware versions for your device. Once you ‘upgrade’ they don’t let you downgrade, therefore you need SHSH Blobs

Here is a tutorial on how to save your SHSH blobs (ECID SHSH) of iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G/3G on iOS 4:

• Download the newest version of TinyUmbrella (here is for Windows, Linux and Mac)
• Do not forget to use iTunes 9.0 or it’s recommended to use iTunes 9.2
• Run the TinyUmbrella and plug in to your iDevices, such as iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
• Hit on “Save My SHSH” now!
• It will be enabled again once a ticket has been generated to save it to saurik’s server.

You are done! One more thing, you must save the signature for your iDevices (iPad, iPhone or iPod touch) before Apple releases the next firmware!

Previously I posted about how to find bootrom version on Windows, go to that link in case you might want to check it out. When there’s a how to for Windows surely same case for Mac. So here’s a pictorial walk through to determine your iPhone bootrom version on Mac!

Steps to find iPhone 3GS bootrom version on Mac:

• As usual locate your iPhone in DFU mode after it’s connected to your computer.
• On the Apple menu click About This Mac menu
  
• You will see More Info menu or such inside the About This Mac section, so hit it!
  
• On your Hardware Contents list – click on USB – it’s on the left side from your screen
  
• On the USB Device section, hit on Apple Mobile Device (DFU Mode)
  
• Use the details pane, locate the Serial Number Field and at the end you will see your bootrom version.The version should look like [iBoot-359.3]
  

If your iPhone 3GS bootrom version is iBoot-359.3, which means it’s the old bootrom. So the new bootrom version is iBoot-359.3.2

As I promised yesterday that I will post about Downgrade iOS 4.0 To iPhone OS 3.1.3 For Mac, some people think that iOS 4.0 not too feature-rich or user friendly, thus for those who seek the tutorial to downgrade their OS to 3.1.3, here it is! Remember, if you use iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 3G you need to firstly save SHSH blobs at Saurik or else you will experience trouble!

Download the following before continue:

• Download iTunes 9.2
• Download iPhone OS 3.1.3 firmware for iPhone 3G and 3GS

Change your communication server from Apple to SaurikFor Mac Users:

• Hit Go then go to folder and then enter the path /etc. Now open the file : HOSTS using TextEdit and paste the line (below) right at the end of the entire file in TextEdit (see the screenshot for example)

• If there is no extension provided just uncheck, so just use extension .txt box – then save it and then name the file hosts without extension, now put it on your desktop!
• Now drag the file you just saved and drop it to /etc! With this you are changing your communication server from Apple to Saurik, since your ECID is on that server! Then put your iPhone in DFU mode to restore any previous OS (If you are asking for password during the changing just enter and click ok)

Steps To Downgrade iOS 4.0 To Firmware 3.1.3 on Mac

1. Download and extract iRecovery v1.3.zip and put it on your desktop
2. Now you need LibUSB library, download it and install it.
3. Head to iTunes then hit ALT+Restore to load your the iPhone 3.1.3 firmware manually.
4. You will likely see error code 1015 appear in a popup, if that’s so, ignore it! Just close it by clicking ok and close iTunes too
5. Open terminal and type the following command at the terminal:
   

   cd Desktop. /-s iRecovery setenv auto-boot true saveenv fsboot exit

6. Now it’s time to disconnect your iPhone from the cable, but wait for a few seconds before you disconnect it
7. Now hit HOME and POWER buttons at the same time to restart your PHONE
8. When Apple logo appears on your screen, connect the phone to Mac via cable and proceed normally with the activation process.
9. Now your OS is downgraded from iOS 4.0 To Firmware 3.1.3 on Mac!

For Windows Downgrade iOS 4.0 To iPhone OS 3.1.3 For Windows

Redsnow 0.9.5 will be adding the ability for enabling multitasking and wallpaper for your iOS 4.0 on iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G, as we all know both features are turned off by default. And previously I have posted tutorial to Jailbreak iOS 4.0 Using Redsn0w 0.9.5 B5 For Windows

Note: Do not apply this if you rely on an unlock, better stay away.

• Your iPhone or iPod touch need to be upgraded to the latest firmware via iTunes =

• Open redsn0w 0.9.5 and direct to the original iPhone OS 4 beta firmware to make iPhone 3G to start the process. And then choose to “Install Cydia” -> “Next”
• Turn your iPhone or iPod touch off, doing so while your device is PLUGGED in, and then hit on “NEXT”
• You need to hold POWER and HOME button at the same time to put your iPhone in DFU mode about 10 seconds. And then wait for few seconds to release POWER button while you’re still holding HOME button, then wait your system to begin installation process .
• Redsn0w will start the process, wait until it finishes, once it’s completed your iPhone 3G will reboot automatically. Then you will find that your iPhone is jailbroken with firmware version 4.0
