Just want to let you know that Saurik and Chronic-Dev team have pushed update to Corona untether for iOS 5.0.1 this morning, dubbed Corona 1.0-5, frankly this one the second update of the previous 1.0-4.

The reason for the second update was due to some users didn’t notice they need to reboot their device once they installed the 1.0-4 for the untether to takes effect.

As the result many users reported they failed in the updating process. Seeing the situation Saurik took an initiative act to bring minor feature in 1.0-5 which is to force reboot after upgraded.

The major updates for Corona today was to fix the iBooks crash and to stabilizes errors found in several Cydia applications and Tweaks. These are updates included in 1.0-4 and automatically put in the 1.0-5 too.

Anyway if this is your first time hearing Corona — albeit I very much doubt it — Corona is untethered jailbreak utility released last year by Chronic-Dev team based on Pod2G’s exploit along with the release of Redsn0w 0.9.10b1.

Both Corona and Redsn0w bring the same utility, the blatant different between these two is to use Corona your iPhone must already jailbroke, whether using Redsn0w or PwnageTool.

Thus these two jailbreak utilities are supporting each other. In otherwise, you can regard Redsn0w is the starting point to further jailbreak your iOS 5.0.1 using Corona.

PlanetBeing recently updated the progress he has achieved on his quest of A5 untethered jb project, this time he told us via Tweeter that he managed to run unsigned code to iPhone 4s indicating the A5 untethered release is few steps closer for public.

Well, considering the Sandbox conqueror by the same guy with Saurik’s help, therefore one can expect the iPhone 4s jailbreak’s release will come in no time. But that does not mean we can bark at the guy and shout inappropriate remarks, okey?

Beside releasing the Redsn0w 0.9.10b1, iPhone dev team has also released PwnageTool PwnageTool 5.0.1 that is fully supporting iOS 5.0.1. With PwnageTool you are not going to be able to untether jailbreak your iOS device, but also be able creating .iPSW file and keep your baseband saved.

Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 using PwnageTool 5.0.1

1. Download iOS 5.0.1.

2. Download PwnageTool 5.0.1

3. Open PwnageTool.

4. Now select “Browse for iPSW” in the Expert Mode, and continue the step by selecting the regular iOS 5.0.1 firmware

5. Choose “General”.

6. Uncheck “Activate the Phone”, or leave it be, if you don’t own official SIM card.

7. Hit on the back button, and then click on “Build”.
8. Now place the customized iPSW file to your chosen place.
9. Once the custome iOS firmware is made, put the device of your into DFU mode.
10. Use iTunes restore the custom iPSW file within your device, when you have your phone in DFU mode.
11. When iTunes has finished restoring, Cydia icon will be appearing on your springboard. Launch Cydia, and continue with installing Ultrasn0w in order for unlocking your device.

I would like to introduce to those who never heard before, a Cydia app namely Untrackerd, for protecting your activity on the iPhone or other devices from being secretly tracking.

Perhaps you’ve never heard before, somehow on the iOS 4 or higher Apple placed a hidden file that can track user location and then store the data on your device that is replicated to the computer once it’s synchronized with the device.

No evidences found by the security researches that data sent to Apple or any third party organisation. However, the tracking could be simply to store your cell towers’s travelling locations for the speed connections purpose.

And the said situation was the original idea why the Untrackerd created by Ryan Petrich, a jaibreak app dev who once reported to tested Siri on the iPhone 3GS. This handy utility operates in the background and actively cleans stored location history data.

You can get this app under BigBoss repo, in Cydia. But keep in mind your devices must firstly been jailbreak.

When one good news appears, the other will come out following the previous.
