1. Firstly your iPhone running on iOS 4.1 need to be jailbroken already, using GreenPoison or Geohot’s Limera1n tool.

2. After your jailbreak iPhone 3GS ready, then launch Cydia and add http://apps.iphoneislam.com as source:

3. Then search for FaceIT-3GS there, when you find it – install the app. Wait till the installation process finished. Afterward restart your iPhone. You will have FaceTime calls on your iPhone 3GS running on iOS 4.1 now.

Previously I posted about how to find bootrom version on Windows, go to that link in case you might want to check it out. When there’s a how to for Windows surely same case for Mac. So here’s a pictorial walk through to determine your iPhone bootrom version on Mac!

Steps to find iPhone 3GS bootrom version on Mac:

• As usual locate your iPhone in DFU mode after it’s connected to your computer.
• On the Apple menu click About This Mac menu
  
• You will see More Info menu or such inside the About This Mac section, so hit it!
  
• On your Hardware Contents list – click on USB – it’s on the left side from your screen
  
• On the USB Device section, hit on Apple Mobile Device (DFU Mode)
  
• Use the details pane, locate the Serial Number Field and at the end you will see your bootrom version.The version should look like [iBoot-359.3]
  

If your iPhone 3GS bootrom version is iBoot-359.3, which means it’s the old bootrom. So the new bootrom version is iBoot-359.3.2

You need to know what is your iPhone 3GS bootrom version, why? Because  it’s currently the available requirement in order to jailbreak iOS 4! So here’s the step by step tutorial to find out iPhone bootrom version for Windows OS!

• Place your iPhone in DFU mode, after you have connected it to the computer.
• Go to your Control Panel (Navigate to Start -> Control Panel)
  
• In control panel, click on Hardware and Sound
  
• Inside Hardware and Sound, hit on Device Manager
  
• Double click to expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category
  
• Point your mouse’s cursor on Apple Mobile Device USB, then right click on it to go to Properties menu
  
• Now click on Details tab and then click on Device Instance Path
  
• Now move down till the end of the field to see the version of your bootroom. The version should look like [iBoot-359.3]
  

If iPhone 3GS bootrom version is iBoot-359.3, which means it’s the old bootrom. And the new bootrom version is iBoot-359.3.2

To Download PwnageTool 3.1.4 To Jailbreak iPhone Or iPod For Mac OS

Geohot has released purplera1n for OS Mac users only, the purpose of this purplera1n is to jailbreak the iPhone 3.0 OS of the iPhone 3GS. The same purplera1n was previously released for OS windows, and this tool have already been tested for both Mac and Windows and they work like a charm!

If you want to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS using purplera1n for your Mac OS X, Thewwwblog has made a short tutorial in that purpose:

• The next phase is open the application. The file is saved in zip extension, therefore extract it first.
• You should have iTunes 8.2 in you, in case you haven’t, make an upgrade to 8.2 version, because the Jailbreak can’t be done without it.
• Connect the iPhone to your mac
• Press “make it ra1n” on the purplera1n app

The iPhone enters the recovery mode, so you get notified that purplera1n is waiting for the iPhone
