Once you have started working on increasing your back links using SEO methods you studied to increase your site visibility, then it is important to check your progress regularly. I am not just talking about checking the first page of Google to see if your site is ranked in the number one position! If you don’t check your progress regularly it will be easy to become disheartened as it can take a long time for your site to work its way up to the first page of the search engine results!

Here are a few things that you can do to check your progress. I would recommend doing
these things once a month.

Check that your site is listed in the Search Engines

This is something that you will only really need to do in the beginning. Visit Google,
Yahoo and MSN and check that your site is listed by typing SITE:HTTP://YOURSITE.COM.

Check the number of back links

You can do this individually in each of the search engines by visiting the search engine and typing LINK:HTTP://YOURSITE.COM e.g link:http://rumahabi.com. Do the same as checking your indexed page like in above screenshoot.

If you prefer to check multiple search engines at once, visit http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/ and enter your URL. To see how you compare with your competitors, enter your keywords into Google and then repeat the above check for some of the competing sites. How many links do you have compared to them? This will give you an indication of how much work you have to do to beat them to the top position!

Check your Ranking in the Search Engines

You can do this manually if you like by simply typing in your keywords into Google or Yahoo and checking if you are on the first few pages. Alternatively there are free services such as http://www.googlerankings.com/ which allow you to check where you are in the search engine results.

Good luck with your optimization and see you in the next post in Busby SEO Test.
