There is a new jailbreak tools package just been released namely, Seas0nPass, the developer team behind this tool named themselves FireCore. The tool is basically work the way a PwnageTool does, to build a custom jailbroken .ipsw files and this one is for 2nd generation Apple TV.
SeasonPass can jailbreak iOS 4.2.1, and currently it is still limited to tethered-boot jailbreak. If you are interested to jailbreak your iOS 4.2.1 on Apple Tv 2G device, here is the instruction:
The following are needed before goint into jailbreak AppleTv 2G using Seas0nPass:
- A Micro-USB cable to complete the jailbreaking process.
- iTunes 10.1.1
- iOS 4.2.1 for Apple TV
- Seas0nPass
How jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on Apple TV 2G Using Seas0nPass Tool
1: Download and then start Seas0nPass.

2. Chose the option called “Create IPSW” in order to create the own custom jailbroken firmware for Apple TV.

3. Seas0nPass will download all the files now to create custom firmware, thus we need to wait.

4. Connect your Apple Tv device (when Seas0nPass prompts) using a micro-USB cable when disconnect your power, then hold these 2 buttons: MENU and PLAY/PAUSE for about seven seconds. See the image below:

5. iTunes will be opening automatically to start restoring steps.

6. When the restore processes are completed, iTunes will confirm it. If that happesn, then your beloved Apple TV is jailbroken on iOS 4.2.1 firmware.
7. Done.
Additionals
Boot your Apple TV into “tethered-boot” stage to get the job done.
Remember your Apple TV need to be disconnected from the computer after restoring in iTunes, this is needed if you want the below tethered boot process to work accordingly
- Launch Seas0nPass again, choose ‘Boot Tethered’ option.
- When prompted by Seas0nPass, connect the Apple TV to your computer via micro-USB. Wait for the rapid flashing light on Apple TV and then connect the power. Once both are connected, hold-down both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons for 7 seven seconds for it to enter DFU mode.
- Step 3: That’s it ! Seas0n Pass will now automatically complete the tethered boot. Once done, remove the micro-USB cable and connect the HDMI cable.
