How To Jailbreak iOS 4 iPhone 3GS, 3G iPod Touch 2G Using PwnageTool 4.01

PwnageTool 4.01 had been released 5 days ago by infamous iPhone Dev Team, it’s the updated version to fixes issue found in iBooks that caused problem for pwned and hacktivated iOS devices running iOS 4, so you might be asking yourself what differ between 4.01 and 4.0, frankly almost nothing except bug-fix for the said issue!

PwnageTool 4.0 doesn’t support both iPod touch 3G and 2G MC model, at least currently! And for iPhone, your 3GS must be old bootrom and jailbroken on 3.1.2

Since PwnageTool 4.01 was released only to bring minor fix found in iBooks, thus the instructions to jailbreak iOS 4 iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch 2G using version 4.01 is the same with version 4.0 and you can find the instructions in the following link:

  • Download PwnageTool 4.01
  • Download iTunes 9.2
  • Download iOS 4 for iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod touch 2G

    Also, i see it says

    “if you have a JB iphone 3gs with old bootrom and you DID NOT use spirit to JB, then you can create the ipsw with pwnage tool and restore with your jail broken recovery mode”

    What if i did JB my 3.1.3 with spirit? Can i restore to 3.1.3 no JB, then use 4.0 pwnage tool to JB?

    I’m not sure i understand how spirit Jb iphone 3.1.3 have anything to do with 4.0 jb?
