Earlier I posted on Redsn0w 0.9.5 B5 For Windows download link, and using that tool your iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2 device’s iOS 4.0 will support Multitasking and background wallpaper
But firstly you must keep mind that don’t apply this step if your iPhone have already unlocked (Hacktivated) using other tool like UltranSn0w or BlackSn0w, doing so will get your iPhone locked!
Now download the following:
- iTunes 9.2.
- iOS 4.0 GM for iPhone 3G
- iOS 4.0 GM for iPod Touch 2G
- Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta 5 for Windows
And then to jailbreak iOS 4.0 on iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G using Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta 5 for Windows:
- Your device need to be updated to iOS 4.0
- Then execute Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta 5: head to browse and go select firmware for your device
iPhone 3G – iPhone1,2_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw
iPod Touch 2G – iPod2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw - Hit Next and data will be prepared by Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta 5 for jailbreaking
And then choose “Install Cydia” and hit Next - In this phase you will have the option whether to enable or disable multitasking & wallpaper (Just click the option to enable or disable it)
- Turn your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G Off – connect it to your computer and then hit NEXT
- You need to hold POWER and HOME button at the same time to put your iPhone in DFU mode about 10 seconds. And then wait for few seconds to release POWER button while you’re still holding HOME button, then wait your system to begin installation process .
- Redsn0w will start the process, wait until it finishes, once it’s completed your iPhone 3G will reboot automatically. Then your iPhone is jailbroken with firmware version 4.0
