I am excited to tell you this news that Gmail team has enriched their IM Chat as we all know Gmail Chat has already has video and voice chat features, well if you have webcam and microphone installed on your computer plus installing this free and small plugin application here, then you can start video and voice chat with your friends or your lover of course!
Not just that Google is also working on providing “Send a File” ability in Gmail Chat, thus whenever you feel like sending your IM friend a file, you don’t need to open a mail to do – just click the provided “Send File” button in the menu
Here is the screenshot of your Gmail Chat box with Video & Voice Chat and with the upcoming send file feature!

Wow Gmail chat is now like Yahoo Messenger, as we are not just sending text but also broadcasting ourselves and talking with voice also sending files – that’s really great – isn’t it?
Nice. FINALLY! I would have thought they’d have this capability a long time ago. =)
new feature is great.
Thanks info abi
Great news, gtalk is a great lightweight web based alternative to some of the other heavier chat programs. Its just always needed a few extra features, one of those being file sending
Google is really doing their job with Gmail. I love Gmail have been using it for years now.
Seems like the chat is getting out of its baby stage and grows up. Never thought they would make it a serious chat client.
Sometimes Gmail can get kinda annoying when simply using iGoogle and everybody sees you are online.
Is there a way to turn of visibility when you are in iGoogle?
Gmail Chat is Having Send File Ability, Wow!! Knew just now itself. Thanks a lot for this post. It was really helpful. Keep posting.
Gmail chat is built onto the actual Gmail page though so doesn’t this make a file sharing option a bit useless as you can just send it through mail?
Thanks for the good news!!!
Nice…Previously there was file sending on the downloaded gtalk messenger…now its available in the email seciton as well…
thanks to gmail…my big prob is solved…
Hmm. Well that’s Skype down the drain then. Every day in every way, the big G is getting closer and closer to an antitrust lawsuit.
