Facebook Email, Will You Use It?

by Abi on February 8, 2010

I never like Facebook since I knew the name for the first time, it was my niece who introduced me to this social networking site at the year of 2006, if I am not mistaken. She was excited and told me that this site is much and much better than Friendster, albeit I didn’t like Friendster either (She abandoned all her FS accounts since then and continue her social online life on Facebook till now)

Then by her support I registered on Facebook, and really didn’t find it interesting at all after spending few hours browsing around there, as for me it’s just a place for people to share (mostly) unimportant things such as “I just woke up!”, “Yummy it was a delicious breakfast” and “I feel so tired after a whole day work!” and their messages are all over my screen; crowded, floated and bloated. Don’t feel offended, for me Facebook is full of uselessness & the greatest time-waster there has ever been

Facebook Email

Now Facebook is planning to launch full-fledged email product under Titan Project (at least it’s the name I got from here) to substitute their old messaging system. This Facebook webmail service is predicted to be facilitated with full POP or IMAP support, which means a user can access their email from anywhere outside Facebook account such as via a desktop application like Mic, Outlook

So in the future your friends might ask you to send them emails to this address: yourfriendemail@facebook.com as their new email address

But one thing that catches my attention is the Facebook call their upcoming email service to be Gmail killer? Come one FB no matter you do, you will never be as efficient than Gmail of Google.

Beside, people already have Gmail, and probably the majority of Facebook users use Gmail and feel happy with it, thus why would they switch to Facebook mail? Lol!

Currently it is better for Facebook to fix their internal problems such as make their website secure from Koobface virus, fix the chat system which has been buggy for its entire existence and make their site load faster.

To Facebook fix yourself first before start thinking to extend your scope to a whole new level.

And see you again in the next post!

yeah, facebook for me is really a time waster. buy just looking @ pics if your relatives hanging out in beach, in the mall..or everywhere. there is time wasted of it. a social networking that kills your time.

Never use the built-in mail account for facebook anyway, and not gonna use it if it is available as a pop3 either

FB e-mail will never be a killer for me. Gmail is way ahead of FB e-mail. They must not only relay on their subscribers on FB but the service that they could provide is the priority. What would you do to a millions of followers when services are not that good. if stability and credibility is at stake, G-mail is more awesome.

I agree I find it hard to believe people are gonna switch there emails to Facebook thats silly lol. There is so many Email services out there why do we need another one? I am fine with my hotmail@Gmail accounts I would have to say no to Facebook Emails!

Never… always.. so difficult… I don’t think so…
Why Facebook mail will never be better that Gmail? Why Gmail will be always the first? Why not?
Please… we will have to wait the rollout of the new facebook mail and then compare. We will talk later, so.
Several years ago, nobody bet for Facebook. Now, 400 millions of users. And is growing and growing. 400 millions should be more important and take into account…

400 millions does not really mean 400 millions people, since one member can create hundred accounts, or at least dozens, but we will see what will FB email be, if it’s better than Gmail then there is a chance for this so-called Gmail killer, but if only to match Gmail, then why would we use it as our main email
Let’s see then
