The search engines are well aware that marketers are bombarding Digg for SEO purposes ans I believe that Google DOES NOT give much weight to the backlinks from Digg

Well, when you put it like that I can not really argue. I use digg for my main website and for my blogs and have not seen any traffic come from it. Another poster said nothing to lose as it is free however my time is so precious that I want to use it on sites that work. Seriously considering dropping digg now.

I disagree with this article. Digg has a huge impact on SEO. Most bloggers don’t really know how to make digg work for them. Let’s just say it’s all about keyword research. When you digg a site, he is right, you really are not going to get traffic from people seeing you on the digg site. But digg,com has an extremely high page rank that will rank your site or blog on the first page of google sometimes. But be careful, don’t about digg because you will be considered spam if you post about the same this too much. (there are ways around that, too)

Interesting that you don’t think Digg is worth it. That’s the conclusion I’ve come to also. But I’ve not looked into is as deeply.

Basically, it just seems like such an awful lot of work submitting your blog posts repeatedly to Digg to try and get onto page one. That kind of work – like directory submissions – is really boring.

Also, from what I’ve read, you might get a deluge of visitors, but they don’t keep coming back. They’re soon off looking at the next website that’s just been “dugg”.

I think that it’s better to put your energy into writing good content and building backlinks through articles. Sure, the search engine traffic builds slowly, but when you reach a good level you tend to stay there for a while. Also, it’s much more targeted.

I’ve heard about this issue before. It’s so sad that I’ve just wasted my time sending links there! The guy above is right. Digg is just a dump site of links. Not worth it!
