Have you heard the latest news about Android, no it’s not about the newest version of this OS mobile. But its logo! A shocking report from EnGadget tends to lead ones who read it to think that Android’s logo and its name, might be the result of a blatant theft of intellectual property. The old Atari game, named Gauntlet has its famous character which will be a familiar name to you and those who ever played that game, the character name is Android.
Not just the name, the look of the two almost exactly the same. So take a look of these two characters to compare:

As we look closely between these two, we’ll find the characters have two antennas on their heads, two dotted eyes and the straight line which separates between the head and the body. Of course their sizes too, as it’s clearly shown on the above picture.
How about go deeper with this old Atari’s Android evolution phases to be the modern Android logo:

So what do you think? You would be the judge!
So far Google has not thrown any explanations about these coincidence similarities, but surely, raises curiosity on what would be the explanations!

It definitely looks like the Atari Android… but is it reasonable similar? Has Atari filed suit against Google? I think Nolan Bushnell is doing fine on $$$ what with his many, many successful innovations.
It just proved the boffins producing these phones and software were geeks back in the day and played games all day long….like me! Still hope for me yet then. ha, nice spot by the way, i don’t know whos the bigger geek now, the guy who ‘invented’ it or the person who spotted it. ha.
WOW! such a cool stuff.

Very nice information about this android….intresting…i like it
Isn’t the old Gauntlet game considered “abandonware” anyway? If so then it’s fair game, no pun intended.
Hmmm… it may be a very obvious likeness but it would take years and a lot of funds to prove it
never knew bout this ..very informative
thanks for the share .

Hey this is great! Nice work ABI, like you said what we think, I think this is interesting how graphics have changed over a period of time. I like your idea of showing a collage of old Atari’s Android’s to modernised androids.
Good job on posting this blog.
