Avoid Snow Leopard Problems After Upgraded To OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

by Abi on September 1, 2009

Many Mac loyal users have upgraded to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, some of them found that their installed or existing software are broken after the upgradation, but some other found that all their software work flawlessly, instead many of them noticeably better. The general problems identified after upgrade to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard are:

  • Cracked iphoto version doesn’t work
  • Glims (Safari Addon / Plugin) doesn’t work
  • Overall system running much slower

And frankly there’s plenty more on the list, but I keep them out of this post to make the post short. But amazingly not all the mac users experience the problems, in fact they are able to got the OS running smoothly & everything works like a dream, nothing is broken & In overall they are satisfied with the new launched Apple OS.

So as an advice from me to anyone avoiding Snow Leopard Problems after upgrading to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, better check your software first to see if it would work with 10.6. Visit the following link before upgrading your current OS to the latest version of Snow Leopard:

I upgraded to sl and Adobe viewer overloads my brother printer spool terribly. I cannot print more than 2 pages off a multi-page pdf. I have also had several Mozilla crashes, several 2008 Office for Mac crashes, specifically Word and Excel. This has not been that great of upgrade. I have re-gen’d my spare eMac with 10.5 so that I can run my Canon scanner, because it will not work anymore under sl.

Major incompatibility not identified on the list is with Apple mail. I have 3 macs running 10.6. None will allow email attachments to be made using mail client- citing false permission problems. Seems to be resistant to all solutions. Am I the only person in the known universe with this problem?

I have updated to Snow Leopard and found lot of problems, it didn’t keep some configuration files I had (like Apache, PHP and MySQL), had to spend a whole day trying to fix it. And today I just realised my printer is not supported!! an HP All-in-one PSC 1410… incredible…. is Apple following Microsoft philosophy?? Cos I was happy with my Mac until today…

I have upgraded, £25 for a new nice look, I was pleased until I tried to work the net, I have BT option 3 at home, had to reload the disc and use new WEP number, it then set off again. On the road I use a 3G dongle, oh dear, this is never great and 3G service can be erratic, after pulling hair out went to local 3G shop, we tried everything but short of getting a disc, mine is old enough to be disc installed gremlins have stolen this item of course, new stick dongles have software loaded on – but you guessed it not for macs, so the new dongle would not work either. Set off to PC world, we tried some downloads and putting these to disc but the computer failed to manipulate them so now I have no mobile internet. The hotel I am at usually has a good easy connection, macbook sees it but will not connect, Apple support was not good either, after running through some options he said sorry and we parted with my having an improved knowledge of the indian subcontinent.

I have found that I can connect via an ethenet cable so I am a bit up and running but snow leopard has let me down.

Word also decided not to work and I had to reload this application it now comes up with error messages seems that snow leopard throws up previously hidden faults you never knew you had, next after ignoring some messages I got word functioning again, I’ll try the printer, macbook OS10.5 was never good with printers and I had to buy a new one when I switched, now it appears there are glitches with HP printers, parallels does not like it either but then my parallels never worked.

So anyone know steve jobs address so I can threaten to burn his house down, making placards ready to picket local apple store, see you on the picket line unless you read this before buying snow leopard and change your mind.

This so-called upgrade has wrecked my 2 month old mac computer and I’ve had to wipe the entire computer and re install the pre-snow leopard version. DO NOT USE THIS DANGEROUS SOFTWARE!!

What a load of amateurs and bad article.
The system works great if it’s used properly. no cracked software, no unauthorized software or old emulation stuff.
Tests prove it’s quicker. But hey if you don’t get on with it then regress to Leopard or better still use Windows, that’s always been highly stable and without bugs.

Cracked iphoto version doesn’t work (well well well)
Glims (Safari Addon / Plugin) doesn’t work (don’t use it )
Overall system running much slower ( rubbish )

Tax Cut from H&R Block is not on your list. I cannot open my files in the 2008 version. Can’t find anything on the Block website about the problem.

Yup, same problem.

Hi Luke you can’t expect all people as pro as you’re, I red many people having trouble after upgrading to the latest version, therefore I inform them about the official apple wiki link, to keep them aware about the software compatibility before (I should have written before not after) upgrade to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, or may be your suggestion is correct to switch to Windows for more stable OS. And thanks for your comment and for stopping by here. Abi
